Terpenes
Borneol
Camphor and damp earth, faintly minty.
Cool and woody, and more at home in savory cooking than in anything sweet. It works where star anise and ginger already are — braises, five-spice, a soy-based glaze.

Survives infusion
Infusion is kind to these — every method on this site tops out at 200 °F, below where they go. Decarb is harder on them and a 375 °F bake harder still. They hold up best in something cooked gently or not at all: a no-bake, a sauce finished off the heat, a chilled dessert.
Pure borneol boils at 213 °C / 415 °F. That figure is the isolated compound at atmospheric pressure, not a threshold in a pan. Dissolved in fat it leaves gradually and the butter holds some of it the whole way — which is why the band above is the number to plan around and this one is only a bearing.
Cook it with
The same compound is in camphor, rosemary, mint and ginger — which is the short version of why these pairings work. You are not matching a flavor to the cannabis, you are adding more of something the flower already tastes of.

Cupcakes solve the portioning problem a layer cake creates, and putting the infusion in the cream cheese frosting solves the heat problem — frosting is never cooked, so nothing is lost on the way.

SnackLow
Roasted first, glazed with infused honey after they cool. Infused honey is less efficient than fat, so this leans on the glaze going on cold rather than being baked.

Flower that carries it
From StrainTrackr. Each of these breeders named borneol on their own product page — a claim about their cultivar, not a lab result. Most strains have no terpenes published at all, so this is a sample of what is documented rather than a ranking of what is strongest.
